TGIF: 10 Awesome Things to Do Alone
Is it just me? Or has this week been an incredibly long one?
Now that Friday’s finally here, it’s time to let loose and celebrate.
For those of you who are C.I.L “Crazy In Love”, probably you have some sexy date planned with your Bae – Good for you! Have a BLAST <3
But if you’re single, Friday night can be a bit more of a mystery.
And that’s cool!
Now, what makes the difference between you and the ones who sit and feel all lonely and what not, is how you spend your time!
Being single can be incredible if you focus on the bright side!
A single friend of mine shared this with me that I had to write an article about it. She stated the following:
” I am single now, so I am enjoying it! Just like when I am in a relationship, I enjoy it too!”
She said being single and having fun with it is an art that many people need to learn because if we can’t have fun with ourselves first, how can we expect to make our time with others enjoyable!
So true, don’t you agree?
“Sadly, people are so concerned with filling every single minute of every day with people and stuff that they freak out the minute they are alone.” she continues.
And she is correct, so many people get freaked out if they have a minute of spare time, some people even go out of their way to fill their time with people and events that they really don’t want to do just out of the fear of being alone.
Sad but true!
“On the other hand, I look at “me” time as a sacred time where I get to spend quality time with myself.” She added.
What an incredible story!
Personally, I love people, and I love being with people but spending time by myself is my treat for myself.
It is a great way to recharge my mental batteries and regroup — everybody needs to do it every now and then!
So say goodbye to your fear of missing out or your reservations about being seen flying solo!
And embark on a mission to treat yourself to not just one but 10 dates with yourself.
TGIF: 10 Awesome Things to Do Alone
1. Indulge in a binge-watching session:
Lately, I’ve been catching up on Games of Throne and Baby Daddy. Both shows have been extremely popular for years, but I’ve only now seen the light. LOL…
It’s unbelievably awesome to just simply take a few hours to get caught up on some pop culture phenomenon that you missed the first time around!
2. Go to some sappy or embarrassingly bad movie
We all have at least one movie that we wanted to see, but we were so embarrassed to ask our friends out to go with us.
So if you found yourself alone on a Friday, then take the opportunity to watch a movie and feel no shame at all.
If it’s a crass movie, then laugh your butt off, if it’s sad, then cry your eyes out!
I mean who cares? No one is there to see you!
3. Go to an event
Tour a museum, or go to a gallery opening.
Go to a book signing event, or a poetry slam.
It’s your call, just do something unique!
Checkout your local area for different events that can add both flavor and fun to your life!
Then, give yourself a pat on the back for broadening your horizons.
4. Go on a dinner date:
But I am single or alone at the moment.
Who cares! Take yourself on a dinner date!
You owe it to yourself to have fun and also to eat 🙂
Bring along a good book that you can’t put down, and immerse yourself in goodness both eats reads — really, what’s better than that?
Please don’t be one of these people who are on their phone so much that they might as well marry their phone!
So, try to resist the urge to look at your cell phone and simply enjoy ordering anything you want on the menu without having anyone else asking for a bite.
5. Go out for a drink!
So you’re single, or feeling lonely?
Then have a drink at a bar!
And No, going out by yourself isn’t desperate.
Anyone who thinks it is, apparently, doesn’t realize the pleasure that comes with enjoying your own company!
Sure, you could stay at home and drink, but sometimes you just want to be around other people.
This is a great way to meet people too, if you’re single and ready to mingle!
So chat with the bartender, or other bar revelers or combine this with the previous tip and bring your favorite book along with you for a fun 1-on-1 time.
6. Challenge your mind
A bored mind, is a wasted mind!
So feeling bored or lonely, then give your mind a challenge!
Complete a sudoku, crossword, or, if you’re feeling really ambitious, a Rubik’s Cube.
Imagine the bragging rights you’ll get to enjoy If you finish any of these activities all by yourself!
7. Get Moving!
Feeling alone and sluggish!
No, I didn’t say go to the gym, I said “Exercise.”
You can get moving by being home!
YouTube is a gold mine for awesome exercise videos.
Or you could crank up your stereo and just have a dance party.
The endorphin rush that accompanies exercising is unparalleled, and it’ll leave feeling energized and fulfilled.
8. Host a slumber party with friends.
Do you remember how much fun we used to have as kids with slumber parties?
Both boys and girls enjoyed slumber parties when growing up!
Admit it, you LOVED them, didn’t you? 🙂
Honestly, I have no idea why the heck we stop doing these fun filled activities once we became adults?
They’re a delightful way to get in some quality bonding time with our friends, so get your jammies on!
9. Dive into a good book:
Is it just me or do you find it hard to make time for really immersing yourself in an enthralling piece of literature?
I’m an avid reader, but I still have to make sure I find and make the time to actually read.
If you find yourself flying solo on a Friday night, then turn this to a time to get through a good chunk of a book you’ve wanted to read for a while, if not finish it entirely.
10. Take the longest and hottest bath of your life.
Draw a bath, get your essential oils going and turn on some soothing music and get ready for a good soak!
Enjoy your long soak without the fear of unwelcome interruptions.
So what you think?
Above, I mentioned 10 ways to spend quality time with yourself. Take one or a few of them for a spin.
You have nothing to lose, trust me!
Happy Friday or shall I say TGIF!
